Why are my wigs sliding back
If You Can Think It, We Can Create It.......................
How To Prevent Your Wigs From Sliding Back
One thing I dislike is having to readjust my sliding wig. There are so many reasons why your wig slides back and this can be very annoying and emabrassing. In this article, we would be highlighting the various reasons why this happens and how you can fix them.
As earlier mentioned, there are various reasons why your wig will slide backwards. Firstly, the wig could be wrongly sized. The wig could either be smaller or bigger that your actual head size. When this happens, the wig will not sit properly on your head and this can cause the wig to slide.
Secondly, your natural hair underneath your wig may not be properly prepped. The ideal situation is to have your natural hair as flat as possible.
Thirdly, your wig will slide back if its dirty or has a heavy build up of products. These tend to make the wig heavy and prevents it from sitting properly on your head.
Another reason why your wig will slide back is if your scalp is too slippery with no grip. Also, if your wig is not properly secured, it will surely slide back.
HOW TO PREVENT YOUR WIG FROM SLIDING BACK.
1. Wear the accurate size
Always ensure that you wear the correct wig size. Get your head measured before purchasing your wig.
Measuring your head is not as difficult as you may think. You can easily get your head measurements yourself. All you need is a measuring tape (check out our previous post for tips to measure your head).
After getting your measurements, cross-reference with the size chart to know if you should be getting a small, medium or large wig.
2. Prep your natural hair.
When preppimg your hair, the key is to keep your natural hair as flat as possible. You can either have your braided into small cornrows or hold as flat as possible in a very low ponytail. It is also recommended to wear a wig cap. For me, I strongly believe this gives the wig a form of support. When choosing a wg cap. always a choose a colouras close as possible to your skin tone.
3. Secure your wig properly.
One way to secure your wig is to use a wig grip or a wig band. This is a great option if you have little to no hair.
This band will help keep your wig in place and stop it from sliding back or accidentally pulling off. It is also very convenient and does not require great effort to use.
You can also use wig clips. All you have to do is to strategically attach these clips to your wig.
You can get this band off of Amazon.
4. Keep your wig clean.
A dirty wig or a wig with a heavy product build up can make your wig heavy and cause it to slide. To prevent this, avoid using lots of prducts on your wig. Always use products recommended for wigs only as these products are light weight. Also wash your wig regularly.
5. Use a wig tape.
Wig tape is double-sided that is designed to help prevent a lace front wig from slipping during the day. And it is a great choice for those people without natural hair.
It’s a more scalp-friendly alternative to wig glue, particularly for those who have a sensitive scalp or are recovering from cancer treatment.
Not mention to a roll of tape will last you a long time! It’s definitely good value for money. If security for a long period is what you require, it’s most likely to be the best way to secure a wig for you.
In conclusion, if you experience this issue, remember that you are not alone and i can assure you that if yu follow the steps outlined above, you should have your wig staying in place.
